Every cabinet manufactured by Young Furniture is special. Young Furniture cabinetry is never mass produced or inventoried. Each cabinet is built per order and assembled by skilled craftsmen. Young Furniture cabinetry exceedes many of the industry standards for construction.
Cabinet Materials Young Furniture cabinets are produced using only the highest quality materials. Each lift of lumber is inspected for acceptable moisture content of 7-11% and overall grade quality before being allocated to production. Solid wood panels are produced and stabilized by sorting and gluing multiple strips of wood no wider than 3” together to achieve the necessary width. Solid Wood Components Solid wood is a product of nature and each wood species used by Young Furniture is unique and will contain variations in color, grain, density and other characteristics that are common and naturally occurring in wood. All wood is guaranteed from structural defects and is sorted to meet or exceed Young Furniture’s visual standards. Unfinished wood is susceptible to expansion in rises in humidity and contraction in dry conditions. It is recommended that all products be finished within two weeks upon delivery. Box Construction Cabinet boxes are constructed with 3/4” furniture grade veneer core, formaldehyde free, plywood with solid wood and plywood cleats, hangers and stretchers. Dado joints are used to “lock” together all structural components of each cabinet. Joints are secured using wood glue and 1 1/4” staples. Face frames are fully glued to the cabinet box. *Note: Pine cabinetry is built with solid wood sides, tops, bottoms & shelves. Face Frame Construction Young Furniture cabinets are manufactured using face frame construction. Face frames are assembled using glue & pocket screws. Cabinet doors are available in “Standard Overlay”, “Full Overlay” and “Flush Inset”. Cabinet Interiors Cabinet interiors are neutral wood veneer (except pine). Most cabinets come standard with 3/4” thick plywood edge banded adjustable shelves; some cabinets may contain structural fixed shelves. All cabinets come standard with 1/4” neutral wood veneer plywood backs attached by staples. *Note: Cabinet backs are non-structural and should not be used to install any cabinet. *All cabinet interiors are Unfinished.
