Maple is a hardwood with color variations of grayish white to light brown with some heartwood that can be light to dark reddish brown.  Maple is sorted for color, grain, stability and may contain small knots.  Maple is generally straight grained, but may contain some curl or tiger.  Maple is suitable for staining or painting and may also be finished natural.  Maple darkens slightly with age.
